About Canuity & Founder

Built by Canadians, for Canadians, to Solve the Contribution Room Problem.

Canuity was founded by personal finance expert Paul Jogi out of direct frustration with the messy reality of managing Canadian registered accounts across multiple institutions.

The Frustration That Started It All

Like millions of Canadians, Paul was trying to do everything right with his personal finances: putting money into an automated ETF portfolio at Wealthsimple, managing self-directed dividend stocks in a Questrade TFSA, and holding a workplace group RRSP at a major bank.

Very quickly, a major flaw in the Canadian financial system became impossible to ignore: none of these financial institutions talk to each other. Wealthsimple has no idea what you deposited into Questrade, and your bank doesn't know what room you used in your robo-advisor.

The official advice from banks is always to “check your CRA My Account.” But as anyone who actively saves knows, CRA My Account is severely delayed. Financial institutions only report your contributions once a year (by the end of February), and the CRA often takes until May or June to reflect your true balance. For 5 to 6 months of every single year, Canadian investors are flying completely blind.

The Spreadsheet Trap

To avoid the CRA's punishing 1% per month excess contribution penalty, Paul ended up maintaining complex personal spreadsheets with custom formulas to track the January 1 withdrawal rollover rule, the first 60 days RRSP window, and the new First Home Savings Account (FHSA) carry-forwards.

It was tedious, fragile, and stressful. When he spoke with friends, family, and colleagues, he realized nearly everyone was struggling with the exact same headache: either maintaining manual spreadsheets or guessing and praying they wouldn't trigger a CRA penalty letter.

Why Canuity is Local-First & Private

When designing Canuity, Paul had one non-negotiable principle: Canadians should not have to give away their banking passwords or upload sensitive tax data to a cloud server just to know their contribution room.

Unlike traditional fintech apps that use third-party screen scrapers to harvest your bank credentials and store your transactions on remote databases, Canuity was built as an entirely client-side, local-first web application:

Zero Cloud Storage

All your account names, balances, and logged deposits remain strictly in your browser's local storage.

No Bank Logins

We never ask for your bank login, password, or security questions. You retain total sovereignty over your credentials.

Free Forever

Core trackers and calculators are 100% free to empower every Canadian to achieve financial security.
